NEWS | Sam Smeaton signs new Dons deal

The Dons are pleased to announce that centre Sam Smeaton has agreed a new two-year deal with the club.

The 33-year-old played a key role in the Dons reaching the Betfred League One play-off final last season.

Smeaton initially arrived at the club ahead of the 2020 campaign after spending the majority of his career in the Betfred Championship with the likes of Featherstone Rovers and Batley Bulldogs.

The Doncaster-born outside back has made 24 appearances for the club so far, scoring six tries.

He said: “I’m really excited for next season, there is a lot of determination at the club to go one better in 2022.

“I signed for 2020 but obviously I’ve only really had one full season, and in that time I’ve enjoyed every part of being here.

“We’ve got a good group and hopefully we can make some smart additions to that to make us even stronger.”

Player and matchday sponsorships are now available for the 2022 campaign. Email commercial@clubdoncaster.co.uk for further details.
