NEWS | Dons appoint Chris Plume as assistant coach

The Dons have appointed the vastly experienced Chris Plume as the club’s new assistant coach ahead of the 2021 season.

Plume is one of the most highly respected coaches throughout the sport of rugby league after spending time with both Leeds Rhinos and Toronto Wolfpack in recent years. 

He worked his way up through the age categories at Headingley before becoming Brian McDermott’s assistant, and then followed the head coach in taking up a role with the Wolfpack. 

Plume said: “I’m very excited to team up with Richard, Carl and the squad at the Dons. 

“2021 will be a season full of trepidation after such a long break, but I am hopeful that I can add some experience to the backroom team and help the squad get prepared for what is to come. 

“Doncaster is a club with great history, but I believe the best is yet to come, and to be involved in this challenge is what attracted me to the role.” 

Chief executive Carl Hall added: “Chris is a really smart recruit for the club. Not only will he add value to the coaching staff, he will also be a great asset when it comes to the Academy, scholarships and pathways which he also contributed to at Leeds Rhinos. 

“Everyone I spoke to gave him a glowing reference, and I would like to thank the board for their assistance in allowing us to bring Chris in.”
