NEWS | Rangi Chase leaves the Dons

Half-back Rangi Chase has left the Dons in order to pursue an opportunity elsewhere in rugby league.

The 34-year-old departs having made 11 appearances for the club since joining midway through the 2019 campaign.

A popular member of the squad, Chase says he will always be grateful to the Dons for allowing him a route back into the sport.

He said: “I’d like to thank the club for the opportunity and the fans for their support throughout. The coaching staff, Richard Horne and Pete Green have been great with me as have the strength and conditioning coaches Ed Miles and Dave Cooke.

“There will be people I have missed but I want to especially thank Carl Hall for everything he has done for me, without him I wouldn’t be in the place I am today.

“Things out of our control have effected the world of rugby league and I believe we were creating something great prior to the pandemic.

“I wish Doncaster all the best for the future and hopefully I will see you all soon.”

Chief executive Carl Hall said: “Rangi had a couple of opportunities elsewhere and has kept the club fully updated along the way.

“Unfortunately our budget along with most clubs has been effected by the pandemic, we had a contingency plan for Rangi if he wanted to go down another route.

“He got himself in good condition and it was unfortunate that we didn’t get to see him in full flow in a Dons shirt.

“The decision Rangi has made is one based on his personal circumstances and wanting to progress his career post rugby league.”

Everyone at the Dons would like to thank Rangi for his efforts while at the club, and wish him all the best going forward.
