PREVIEW | Horne: plenty to play for

Richard Horne says the game against Oldham this weekend is one both teams have a lot riding on.

With the home side still battling for automatic promotion, the Dons are looking to climb the ladder to guarantee a home game in the end of season play-offs.

He said: “We’ve played them twice and they’ve probably got a bit more belief about themselves now as they still have a chance of getting top spot.

“All they can do is win their games so that will be their mindset, we’re chasing fourth because we want to have that cushion when it comes to the play-offs.

“Things like injuries can happen at the back end of the season so if we can climb the ladder and know we’ve got some breathing space will be crucial.”

Having beaten Oldham twice already this season, Horne believes handling the conditions will go a long way to securing a third win against them.

He added: “It’s a real tight pitch and it’s hard to avoid it becoming a really physical battle, we went there in the cup and were really disciplined.

“It will be similar this time around, they are big and powerful so we will have to match them in the middle area to get the result.

“Ruck tempo will be key and we need to make sure our contact is good, we want to control the game if we can.”
