Robinson looks ahead to London Broncos test after breaking kicking record

Connor Robinson is looking forward to the play-off game against London Broncos following a personal record-breaking afternoon at Club Doncaster Sports Village on Sunday.

The 31-year-old converted his 42nd consecutive kick in the 72-0 play-off victory over Barrow Raiders, which broke a world record held by four players.

Amazingly, his run is still going. Having converted all 12 of Dons’ tries, Robinson’s streak now stands at 52, with a tough test against London Broncos up next.

The scrum-half’s immaculate kicking may need to continue, as London concluded the regular Betfred Championship season in top spot, securing wins in 23 of their 24 fixtures in the process. In their first game of the play-offs, they sealed a convincing 66-18 victory over Swinton Lions.

Speaking on breaking the record, Robinson said:  “It is a little piece of history for me, the club and my family - hitting targets like that is always nice. I could not have done it without the boys scoring the tries.

“The game against North Wales definitely helped, but there were some tough kicks in there. I relish it now, and I am not frightened to take them.

“To be fair though, when our first try went in out wide, I was a little bit nervous! But, with the second one being under the sticks, that took the pressure off and the rest is history.”

On London next time out, he commented: “To be the best, you have to beat the best. That is how the play-offs work.

“I will back these boys every day of the week. If we turn up, we are good enough against anybody.

“The fans also spur us on. People don’t think it matters, but it really does, and we appreciate every single one of you.”
