New Dons programme to introduce rugby league to nursery children

We are pleased to unveil our brand new rugby programme to introduce rugby league to pre-school aged children.
Dons Active Start supports early years foundation stage physical development by developing gross motor skills, building coordination and balance and encouraging an active lifestyle, as well as supporting listening and communication skills and promoting teamwork and confidence.
Dons head of development Andy Castle said: “Our new programme is built on fun activities that young children will really engage with, all while giving them skills that they can carry forward.
“We want to encourage that love for not only playing rugby but taking part in any sort of physical activity. The skills are developed through fun play - the children’s enjoyment is the biggest goal for the activities.”
Delivered by Dons staff, the new six-week programme adds another stage to the club’s pathway as it feeds into the Little Dons (KS1/KS2) and onward into Future Dons (KS3/KS4).
Any nurseries interested in signing up to the Dons Active Start programme should contact head of development Andy Castle for more information on andy.castle@clubdoncaster.co.uk.
