Edene Gebbie returns for more with the Dons

We are delighted to confirm that 2025 player of the year Edene Gebbie has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

Gebbie scored 25 tries in 22 appearances for the Dons last season and will be looking to fire the side into the play-offs in the coming campaign.

“Last year I came in and I was struggling at first in the first few games but things changed and I did well so they have asked me to come back,” he said. “It was a good season for me and I am happy to be here.

“I have been happy to see some more good players coming in and I think we can do well this season. I think we will make the finals this year.”

The 30-year-old has linked back up with the Dons squad after spending the off-season and festive period in his native Papua New Guinea, for whom he has played at international level.

Prior to joining the Dons, Gebbie spent a season with Whitehaven in his first taste of English rugby league after switching from Australia.

Head coach Richard Horne said: “We're delighted to have Gebbie back with us for the new season.

“He made a massive impact last season, particularly with his try scoring and we think he can produce even more this year with the players we’ve added to the group.

“He’s an exciting player and it’s a great bit of business for us to keep him with us in the longer term.”
