Tyla Hepi extends stay with the Dons

Tyla Hepi said he never considered joining any other club in English rugby league ahead of extending his contract with the Dons.

We are delighted to confirm that Tyla Hepi has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The forward has made 27 appearances across two campaigns since joining the Dons ahead of the 2024 season.

And the New Zealander has become the latest player to commit his future to the club.

“I’m pleased to be here,” he said. “I didn’t take long after speaking to Carl [Hall, CEO] and Rich [Horne, head coach]. They were happy to keep me and I was happy to stay.”

The 32-year-old arrived in English rugby in 2013 with Hull KR. Spells with Whitehaven, Toulouse Olympique, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers followed before his arrival at the Dons.

Head coach Richard Horne said: “We’re really pleased to keep hold of Tyla.

“He’s shown a strong desire to stick with us and help to achieve the goals that we have over the next few years. He’s the sort of character that you need in a changing room and I’m sure he’ll continue to make a big impact.”
