Horne: Holmes 'a key signing' as Dons strengthen for 2026

Richard Horne believes new signing Tom Holmes will fulfil his goal of adding strength to the spine of the Dons team heading into the 2026 campaign.

Experienced Holmes became the fourth new addition to the squad when signing a two-year deal following his departure from Bradford Bulls.

And head coach Horne believes the full back will provide plenty of quality to the squad.

He said: “He’s another player that will strengthen us in the spine area, which was a big goal for our recruitment.

“He’s got a great passing game, good footwork. His short kicking game is really good.

“He’s an option at full back or half so he’s quite versatile in where we can play him.

“It’s a great signing for us and one we wanted to jump on as soon as we knew he was available. He bought into what we told him when we met and is excited about his future here.

“Tom’s been a really big player for Bradford and really key to a lot of what they’ve done over the last couple of years. When you’ve watched their games, you can see how central he’s been and that will be massive for us.

“He’s another one too who feels that he can still improve and he wants to do that here with us.”
