Dons sign stand off Cory Aston on two-year deal

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Cory Aston on a two-year deal.
The stand off has become the second new addition to the squad ahead of the 2026 campaign following the arrival of prop Muizz Mustapha.
Aston opted to end his long association with Sheffield Eagles in order to move across South Yorkshire and said his decision to switch to the Eco-Power Stadium was a simple one.
“I’m really excited to join the Dons,” he said. “Once I spoke to Carl [Hall, CEO] and Rich [Horne, head coach] it was sorted pretty quick.
“I can’t wait to get sorted. I know a fair few people here already - one of my close mates Greg Burns is here. It was a no-brainer to come here.
“Being a South Yorkshire lad, managing to still play around here is something that I’m really passionate about.”
The 30-year-old spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with Sheffield, making more than 80 appearances and scoring 18 tries.
Sheffield-born Aston started his career with the Eagles, with spells at Castleford Tigers, London Broncos and Halifax Panthers following.
Dons head coach Richard Horne said: “We’re really pleased to bring in such a top quality, experienced operator as Cory.
“This is a signing we wanted for a while and discussions with Cory were very easy. He wants to be here and he’s hungry to make an impact.
“As we look to progress, he’s exactly the sort of player we need. He’ll push us on and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
