Horne confident Dons can get Johnson back to his best

Richard Horne is confident a fit and firing Luis Johnson will be a major player for the Dons during the 2026 campaign.

After offering the 26-year-old an opportunity to get back on the pitch following an ACL injury, Horne is keen to see more from Johnson next term and is confident he can help the second row get back to his best.

“Luis has got that real good Super League pedigree and that’ll be big for us,” the head coach said.

“It was big for him, getting back out on the pitch last season. It’s never easy when you’re coming back from an injury like the one he had and it’s always going to take a little bit of time to get back up to speed and feel comfortable being out there.

“He’s got that out of the way and I know he’s really looking forward to pre-season where he can just focus on getting himself ready for next year.

“We’ll be getting Luis Johnson back towards his best and that will be massive for us.

“He’s got a lot of natural ability, he’s got the physicality and he’s got that experience of top level rugby league, which is where we want to go.

“The big thing is that he really wants to this club to do well and he wants to do well with us. Hopefully we’re moving forward together.”
