Mustapha 'a stronger player' after journey to the Dons

Muizz Mustapha says his career journey has primed him to make a big impact after joining the Dons.

Prior to his most recent spell with Castleford Tigers in Super League, the forward was well travelled with loan moves from Leeds Rhinos.

And he is ready to use his experiences as he puts down roots at the Eco-Power Stadium.

“I’ve been to quite a few clubs in that space of time and I’ve had to work my way through not the most straightforward route,” the 25-year-old said. “But I think it’s made me a better player and a stronger player.

“I’m grateful for that journey.

“I’ve had quite a lot of setbacks in my career but that has never stopped me and I just keep taking everything as it comes.

“I’m just the type of player that tries my hardest and I play with my heart on my sleeve so that is what you’re going to see from me.”

Mustapha’s travels ensured he had plenty of players he could call on to ask their thoughts about joining the Dons - and he only received glowing references.

“I played with Louie McConnell coming through the Leeds system and amateur level when we were younger,” he said. “And there’s Luis Johnson and Alex Sutcliffe so I’ve got ties to the club already.

“They’re a good group from what I’ve been told. I know a lot about them and how they like to play.”
