Dons 30 London Broncos 12

The Dons took a first victory against London Broncos since 1994 with an emphatic five-try victory at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Edene Gebbie again kept up his rich vein of try-scoring form in the first half to open the scoring, but Richard Horne's men went into the break behind by two points.

But the second half response was superb, with two more tries from Gebbie as well as scores from Watson Boas and Sam Smeaton securing a thoroughly deserved two points for the Dons.
Horne made one change to the side that saw off Halifax Panthers in emphatic style two weeks earlier, as Hull FC loanee Will Gardiner replaced Brad Knowles in the starting XIII. Fellow Black and Whites loanee Brad Fash was also introduced as a Don for the first time among the interchanges.
It was an opening half of few clear-cut chances in DN4, but Gebbie went close with a darting run from the left after ten minutes, only for the referee to pull play back to penalise Brad Hey for a knock-on.
The Broncos went close themselves a minute later, but an error just short of the line saw possession back in Dons hands.
Both sides completed well in the first half with neither giving up an inch, but the Dons found the avenue to exploit after 23 minutes.
Horne's men shifted play out to the left and found Gebbie, who raced through a gap to open the scoring by the posts. Connor Robinson added the extras.
However, it wasn't to be a platform to take control of the opening 40 minutes, as Aaron Small scrambled his way to the line five minutes later before Christopher Hellec successfully converted to restore parity.
The Dons looked to retake the lead throughout the final 15 minutes of the first half, but just as the sides looked to be entering the interval deadlocked, the visitors were awarded a penalty in the final minute before the hooter and left Hellec to successfully kick for a half-time lead.
The second half started in similar fashion to the first, with neither side challenging the try line until Horne's men retook the lead after 58 minutes.
A brilliant break from Brad Knowles saw the prop glide through the middle, hold off his man and then find Boas, who dived under the posts. Robinson again added the extra two points.
And the Dons went on to find breathing room five minutes later. Gebbie powered his way through the middle and found Robinson, who looked back inside and left an unmarked Smeaton to crown a century of appearances in Dons colours with a try under the sticks. Robinson again successfully converted for a ten-point lead.
With the Dons now in control of the fixture, the hosts capitalised to see Gebbie secure his brace after 78 minutes. Craig Hall used lightning speed to break through the middle and then find the Papua New Guinea man, who finished the job beneath the posts. Robinson then successfully notched his fourth conversion of the day.
Matters were to get even better for the Dons just four minutes later. The opportunity looked to have gone, but a recycling of play saw Hall kick into the left-hand corner, where Gebbie ran around the back to score and complete his hat-trick. Robinson then kicked well again to stretch the Dons' advantage to 22 points.
Jenson Moml added a late consolation try for the Broncos, but Horne's men's earlier work secured a first win over the London-based side in 31 years and back-to-back wins for the first time in 2025.Dons: Hall, Briscoe, Lyne, Hey, Gebbie, Boas, Robinson, Gardiner, Burns, Matagi, Jones, Smeaton, McCopnnell. Interchanges: Knowles, Misky, Hepi, Fash.
