INTERVIEW | Horne looks ahead to Whitehaven trip
Doncaster RLFC travel north west this Sunday to take on a Whitehaven side looking for their first win in four and Richard Horne has warned his team not to expect a walkover.
The Dons go into this one off the back of an impressive win over Toulouse at the Eco-Power Stadium last time out and Horne discussed the importance of staying level headed, “You’ve got two ends of the scale, Toulouse were unbeaten in 11 coming into that game and we knew we had to be at our best and put them under pressure and we did that really well.
“On the flip side now we have a team that are struggling to put a full squad together and they’re probably more dangerous because they’re desperate. What they will have is that togetherness and will to want to help their club.”
Whitehaven have lost their last three including a heavy defeat last time out at Bradford and have only named 16 in their matchday squad leaving the Dons head coach thinking that those current circumstances can be turned into a positive reaction from this weekend’s hosts.
Moving onto discussing what is possible for the Dons given their current position in the table and recent form, Horne said, “I believe if we can get the result at the weekend we can start looking up the table rather than what’s behind us.
“We are in a really strong position, one that we probably didn’t foresee coming into this season but the boys have worked hard and we’ve got some really good results against some really good teams and it’s put us in a good position.”
The Dons boss went on to discuss how the latest new arrivals have settled in and you can watch the full interview by clicking on the video above.
