INTERVIEW | Try-scoring Guzdek reacts to Dons win at Dewsbury

Doncaster RLFC star Josh Gudzek echoed the sentiments of head coach Richard Horne following their 20-16 victory over Dewsbury Rams on Sunday afternoon.
While pleased with the win, Gudzek acknowledged the need for the Dons to start faster and build momentum from the first whistle. The full-back played a pivotal role in changing the flow for his team in the second half, forcing a goal-line dropout at a crucial moment and scoring a try that put the Dons in the lead.
Speaking after the contest, the former Dewsbury man expressed his delight at securing the victory but emphasised the need for improvements.
“It was a poor start again. It’s not the first time we’ve done that this season. Errors and completion rates were all off in the first half. I wouldn’t say we came out firing in the second but we changed the momentum and played better. The game was in the balance and anyone could have won. Errors in our bad ball really hurt and we gave Dewsbury a lot of penalties today. We managed to turn it around in the second half a little bit and put pressure on them more. But, we’ve got to be miles better next week.
“I’m just doing my job for the team. I try to change the momentum for the boys and pop up where I can. Who doesn’t like scoring, though? Next week, York will be tough, every game is in this division. But, we really need to get our start right.”
