INTERVIEW | Connor Robinson reacts to Dons win
Dons Man of the Match Connor Robinson was relieved to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening, as the mercurial halfback was instrumental in the 18-8 victory over Swinton Lions at the Millennium Stadium.
Bagging two assists, plus a solid kicking game to boot whilst orchestrating his troops around the field, the ex-Hull KR man rightly earned the top award of the contest, but insists it's all about the team and getting back in the winner's circle after four games without a victory.
Speaking after the gritty clash in West Yorkshire, the playmaker was delighted with the way his team stook together during Brett Ferres and Pauli Pauli's sin-binning, explaining how the side got around each other at the break knowing things needed to change. At the heartbeat of everything that went right in the second half, Robinson was over the moon to get over the line.
"It's great to get back to winning ways. We've had a tough few weeks and we're low on numbers but we stuck together and got the win. Winning ugly or by 50, you never quit and dig in. We were down to 11 men and they could have put the game to bed. But, we had a dig and it shows what we do here and we work hard. No disrespect to Swinton. We went into the sheds 8-0 down and they threw the kitchen sink at us. I said in the break keep hold of the ball, we've got them. We made daft errors but got better.
"It's nice to get assists, but I've been out of form which hurts your confidence. I've been moping around all week so it's good to be back controlling the contest. To come here and win, we need to back it up now. This league is tough, we have to be beating teams around you now at this stage."
