INTERVIEW | Richard Horne reacts to Bradford result

Doncaster RLFC went down 38-4 in their trip west to Bradford Bulls at the Bartercard Odsal Stadium.

Before the game Dons head coach Richard Horne wanted a reaction in this weekend’s performance but his team were unable to respond, “We’d spoken about giving ourselves opportunities by getting the basics right throughout last week, but we didn’t do that and instead made multiple errors and gave ourselves too much to do defensively.

“When you don’t complete sets and you let the opposition attack your line for large periods of the game you’re setting yourself up.”

The Dons struggled in the first half as Bradford went through the gears and finished the first period strongly.

The visitors put in a better performance in the second period but had left themselves too much to do.

Speaking on how Doncaster can turn their fortunes around, Horne said, “We will continue working hard on the training field and getting the messages into the boys.”

Being the new side in the Betfred Championship the Dons wouldn’t have expected a smooth ride and along with an influx of injuries a mixed bag of results is a reflection of that.

“It’s a tough division to compete in and we knew that, we’ve got several bodies out but that’s all part and parcel of the game. We’ve been our own worst enemy of late and we need to fix that.”

Doncaster are next out on Saturday, June 29 for a 6:30pm kick-off against Swinton Lions. The fixture is a home tie however, will be played at Featherstone's Millennium Stadium due to the Eco-Power Stadium pitch renovations.
