INTERVIEW | Connor Robinson after Dons' Challenge Cup exit

Halfback Connor Robinson was disappointed with the way Doncaster exited the Challenge Cup on Sunday afternoon but stated the 50-16 defeat to Widnes Vikings won’t become a regular theme this season.

Speaking after the match, the former Hull KR man pulled no punches for the way the team played but knows the Dons are much better than that showing. They will use it as fuel to be bigger and better ahead of their Championship season opener on March 17 when they host York City Knights at the Eco-Power Stadium.

“It was a poor showing from us. We won’t make any excuses; we gave the ball away too often, and you get hurt in rugby doing that. We came out and scored with our first set, and we just needed to calm down and complete. We were the masters of our demise, hitting people late and not playing the ball correctly.

“We know where we’re at. That performance wasn’t us and won’t be an indication of our season. People can have their opinions, but we know what we need to work on to kick on now. It’s not good to lose, but it’s good to learn a harsh lesson now and then.”
