NEWS | Alex Sutcliffe signs for the Dons

The Dons are delighted to confirm the signing of Alex Sutcliffe on a one-year deal.

The 2020 Challenge Cup winner made his Super League debut for Leeds Rhinos back in 2017, going on to make appearances for Castleford Tigers with a stint at Betfred Championship side Featherstone Rovers in between.

The Wakefield born centre arrives at the Eco-Power Stadium with plenty of high level experience whilst still only being 24-years-old.

“All I've heard is good things about Doncaster and the real togetherness and family feel the club has,” Sutcliffe said. “You play your best rugby when you're in a positive and happy environment.

“I always try to bring hard work and do all of the little things, not always the flashy stuff but getting involved and cleaning up after people.”

The 24-year-old started his career with Leeds Rhinos adding a Challenge Cup medal to his achievements before moving to Featherstone Rovers in 2019 on loan. Sutcliffe later moved to Castleford Tigers gaining further Super League experience.

Dons chief executive Carl Hall said: "We've been tracking Alex for a while now and we're really pleased to finally have him on board at the Dons. He will fit in well with the group we have here both on and off the field. Chris Plume knows him from his time at Leeds Rhinos and made us aware of him as soon as he became available."
