WATCH | Captain Sam Smeaton discusses Dons Promotion Final

The Doncaster RLFC captain said he and the boys have enjoyed the last 10 days building towards the Dons Promotion Final clash against North Wales Crusaders at the Eco-Power Stadium this Sunday, September 24.

The Betfred League One 2023 campaign comes to a close this Sunday in the final showdown of the season, Doncaster RLFC v North Wales Crusaders in a clash that will see the winners promoted to the Betfred Championship.

Smeaton on his role as captain:

“My role doesn't really change, we've got a really good group and there's a lot of leaders in this group. I don't think it's just on me or any one individual I think it's collectively and we all have to be good.”

Smeaton on Dons having been here before: 

“I think it will definitely have a bearing yes, I think we have a lot of experience in this group not just in League One finals but in finals in general. We've got a lot of good leaders that know when to speak at the right times or take action in the right moments.”

The captain's message to Dons fans:

“Just get behind us, the support at Hunslet was fantastic we didn't actually feel like the away team and if we can amplify that which I'm sure they will it will be fantastic.”   

The Dons will host North Wales Crusaders in the Betfred League One Promotion Final at the Eco-Power Stadium on Sunday, September 24 with the prize being promotion to the Betfred Championship.
