REPORT | Doncaster RLFC 60 Cornwall RLFC 0

The Dons made it not only two wins on the spin, but two 60-0 wins in a row, only the second ever time Doncaster RLFC has registered two consecutive wins to nil.
You could have put almost every players name in a bag and picked one out for the man-of-the-match award after several fantastic run-outs resulted in an impressive team performance from the Dons this afternoon.
Debutant Mahe Fonua opened the scoring for the Dons as the hosts attacked the visitors middle pack with the ball falling flat into the hands of the ex-Super League winger touching down with what we believe was his first touch of the ball.
Connor Robinson putting his first points of the day on the board to make it 6-0 after five minutes.
Half-back Ben Johnston put himself on the scoreboard latching on to a nicely timed inside pass crashing over to make it 10-0 with Robinson converting once again.
The momentum continued to stay with the Dons in attack, Mahe Fonua picking up his second of the game on the 21-minute mark thanks to a last-ditch offload from Travis Corion, Robinson continuing to increase his individual points tally adding the extra two.
Having spoken about patience in pre-match media, Richard Horne’s men handled extremely well and waited for their openings, another came with hooker Greg Burns making a run from dummy-half to cross over the line just after the half-hour mark, Robinson doing the rest.
As the half-time hooter sounded the Dons weren’t finished and saw through the last play that ended with winger Tom Halliday flying over the line to make it 28-0 but unfortunately, Robinson could not convert on this occasion.
As the second half got underway, the Dons fans were expecting more of the same and it didn’t take long before some swift passing from centre to right ended with Halliday acrobatically diving over the line to touch down his second of the afternoon. Robinson missed the extra two on offer leaving the scoreboard at 32-0.
Just over the hour mark Watson Boas made a break through the middle from acting half running 30-meters to score next to the posts giving Robinson an easy angle to convert from.
Cornwall restarted the game kicking long down field into the hands of Halliday, then Foster and Burns having touches before Knowles handed off to Johnston who in turn did the same finding Vete on his way down, Guzdek took over possession and from the Cornwall kick the Dons found themselves inside the 20 in the blink of an eye. Burns collected from the ruck gave it to Robinson who looped a ball wide left missing out several players into the hands of Corion who touched down in the corner, absolutely fantastic rugby from the hosts.
Robinson unable to convert.
Cornwall restarted the match again and again the Dons went through the gears to go right up the pitch within the set finishing it off with another ball wide left to Corion who this time knocked the pass back in-field for Ferres to power over. Robinson back to adding to his points tally.
The Dons continued to pile on the pressure moving the ball across the line and eventually got in again, Vete receiving the ball far too close to the line for Cornwall’s liking and there was no stopping him drive over to get his name on the scoresheet. Robinson adding the extras.
The Dons weren’t done there, as the clock neared 80-minutes Guzdek found Corion 10-metres inside his own half and the winger put on the after-burners to burst through and past everyone in his path to touchdown his second of the day.
Robinson finishing off the scoring for the day converting to give the Dons another impressive 60-0 victory adding to the positive momentum the Dons have going into their final game of the season as they host Dewsbury at the Eco-Power Stadium Sunday, August 27.
