WATCH | Mahe Fonua's first interview after signing for the Dons
Mahe Fonua signed for Doncaster RLFC earlier this month and has been awaiting clearance to make his Dons debut
Doncaster RLFC announced earlier this month the new signings of both Mahe Fonua and Bureta Faraimo. They were released from Betfred Super League side Castleford Tigers in late July, making the experienced pair available for the Dons to snap up.
Ahead of this Sunday's home clash with Cornwall, Mahe Fonua spoke about his move to the Dons and hopes of getting a run out in front of a home crowd at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Fonua on signing for Dons:
“I'm really excited, I obviously didn't finish the way I would have liked in the Super League but this opportunity arose here at the Dons and I'm ready to finish off my career over here in England at the Dons.”
Fonua on bringing his experience to the Dons:
“I've played in some big matches, I know this club is trying to get promoted and I hope that any experience I've got I can pass on to the boys.”
The former Hull FC and Castleford Tigers winger went on to say that there couldn't be a better way to start his Dons career than with a home tie which he'll get this weekend.
Fonau on what fans can expect:
“I want to be someone hard to handle and in defence create a bit of destruction.”
The Dons host Cornwall RLFC this Sunday, August 20.
