NEWS | Johnston: no time to dwell

Ben Johnston feels the Dons need to learn their lesson from a 66-16 defeat to London Broncos in the Betfred Challenge Cup.
The loss against the Broncos was the Dons’ first of 2023, and Johnston says they must not dwell on it for too long.
On the nature of the result:
“It was disappointing, considering how the first half went we gave a good account of ourselves, we were right in the mix but lost our way after half-time.
“We let our guard down in that second-half and a team like London will punish you for that. It’s a lesson that you learn quickly against a good team.
“Our defence was not where we needed it to be, and from that we had four sets in the second-half gave us little chance of coming up with anything really.
On positives the team can take:
“I thought we troubled them down their end and posted some points in the first-half, as well as showing a lot of grit and togetherness.
“We are a good group and now have to pick ourselves up for the next league game. Losing is not a feeling we’ve had this season and there is a reason for that.
We will reflect on the game, but we will pick our heads up and try to put in a good performance against Cornwall next week.”
