NEWS | Brad Knowles signs for the Dons

The Dons are delighted to announce the signing of back-rower Brad Knowles on a one-year deal from Betfred Championship side Halifax Panthers.

The 29-year-old arrives having spent the majority of his career so far in the second tier, which includes more than 120 appearances for Featherstone Rovers and Sheffield Eagles.

Knowles was part of the Eagles side that won the inaugural 1895 Cup at Wembley in 2019, and joined Halifax at the start of last season.

A man known for his hard-hitting style and work ethic in the pack, he will add an extra dimension to Richard Horne’s side in 2023.

On joining the club, Knowles said: “I’m really happy to be joining the Dons. I had a couple of offers from Championship clubs but this felt like the right move for me.

“I know Misi Taulapapa and Ben Johnston really well and they had nothing but good things to say, which helped make my decision to come here that bit easier.

“The fans can expect plenty of commitment and aggression from me on the field. I leave everything out there so I can’t wait to rip in in 2023.”

Head coach Richard Horne said: “We are really pleased to secure the signing of Brad and I’m already looking forward to seeing him in a Dons shirt next season.

“He is an experienced Championship player and will help lead the forwards in the group, especially in the tough games throughout the year.”

Knowles joins Sam Smeaton, Jason Tali, Watson Boas, Connor Robinson, Ben Johnston, Greg Burns, Keelan Foster, Jose Kenga and Tom Halliday as contracted players for 2023, with more announcements due in the following days and weeks.
