NEWS | Doncaster welcome Samoa to our city

The Samoan Rugby League World Cup squad were welcomed to Doncaster on Thursday October 6 with a Civic Reception at the Mansion House.

As part of the reception Civic Mayor Ian Pearson welcomed the team to the city and presented back-rower Jayden Su'a with the Doncaster coat of arms and a framed painting of Doncaster.

Carl Hall, chief executive of the Dons spoke of his passion of bringing the Rugby League World Cup to Doncaster and hosting Samoa a lifelong ambition having been brought up as part of a Samoan family.

Hayfield Lane Primary School stole the show when they performed the Siva Tau led by Samoan legend Freddie Tuilagi to the Samoans, the team then joining the school children to perform the dance.

Samoa takes on Greece on October 23 at the Eco Power Stadium as world class rugby league hits Doncaster and you can purchase tickets for the game by CLICKING HERE.

The Stadium hosts two further Rugby League World Cup games with Greece playing France on October 17 and Papua New Guinea playing Wales on October 31.
