NEWS | Leon Ruan signs for Leeds Rhinos

The Dons can confirm the departure of back-rower Leon Ruan to Betfred Super League side Leeds Rhinos.

Ruan trained with the Rhinos first-team squad throughout the year and has put pen to paper on a three-year deal in West Yorkshire.

The 19-year-old became a breakout star for the Dons in 2022, having joined the club from Wakefield Trinity ahead of the campaign.

He played 23 times in total, scoring six tries, and was nominated for the Betfred League One Young Player of the Year award as the Dons reached the play-off final.

Chief executive Carl Hall said: “This move is a fantastic opportunity for Leon to show what he can do at the highest level after a good year with the Dons.

“As a club we are proud to have played a part in his development and will look forward to seeing him light up Super League in the future.

“I would like to thank the Leeds club for their professionalism throughout, as always they were a class act to deal with.”

Everyone at the Dons would like to thank Leon for his contribution while with the club, and wish him the best of luck in the future.
