REPORT | Dons 62 West Wales Raiders 6

The Dons made it six straight league wins in Betfred League One with a 62-6 victory over West Wales Raiders at the Eco-Power Stadium on Sunday.
A hat-trick from Tom Halliday along with braces from Jack Sanderson, Ross Whitemore and Watson Boas ensured Richard Horne’s side kept the pressure on the sides above them in the table.
The Dons welcomed Boas into the starting 13 after he missed the win at Oldham last time out, while there was a place in the matchday squad for Brandan Wilkinson who was making his first appearance of the season.
The game was less than two minutes old when the first points came, and it was Boas at the heart of it as his looping pass was helped on by Robbie Storey for Sanderson to go over in the corner.
The Dons continued to put the pressure on and scored again with eight minutes gone. Ben Johnston made a trademark break and found the supporting Ben Howe who showed a good turn of pace to score for his hometown club.
The Raiders though found a response and got themselves on the board with their first real set in the Dons’ half. Prop forward Ewan Badham chose to go alone and forced his way over the line to reduce the deficit to just two points.
The Dons soon regained control of the game and had their third try when Sanderson went over for his second after good work from Howe and Storey in the build up.
Tom Halliday then raced through to continue his brilliant scoring record against the Raiders, before Boas got his name on the scoresheet on his return after backing up a break from Storey.
Doncaster’s sixth try of an entertaining first half came six minutes before the break, as Ross Whitmore threw a dummy to create space for himself and go over to put his side in a commanding position at half-time, leading 30-6.
Just like in the first half, the home side had a try within two minutes of the restart. With three assists to his name already, Storey got a well deserved try of his own after being found on the left edge by Howe.
They were up to 40 points six minutes later as Halliday was found tight to the touchline, and managed to stay in the field of play to go over for his second.
Whitmore then went over from dummy-half for his second, before Connor Robinson provided a superb kick to the corner for Halliday to complete his hat-trick just before the hour-mark.
Boas went over again 12 minutes from time, before Johnston went from provider to scorer to cap off a solid team performance ahead of a mouthwatering clash with Rochdale Hornets next weekend.
