NEWS | Doherty pleased with attacking display

Sam Doherty says the Dons had to be clinical in the win over West Wales Raiders in Betfred League One.

The winger ran in five tries to help his side to a 50-10 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He said: “It was a good performance in patches and we managed to score some nice tries so we have to take the positives from it.

“The boys on the inside were creating space all afternoon so then it was down to me to finish the tries off and fortunately I managed to do that.

“In games like that you have to be smart and when you get the chances you have to make sure you take them and kill the opposition off.”

With a two week break until the next league game away at Keighley Cougars, Doherty says the players will gain in confidence from their first two points of the season.

He added: “We know we’ve got tough games coming up and I’m confident with the squad we’ve got that more complete performances will start to come.

“We’ve got the winning feeling in group again and that will stand us in good stead over the next few weeks.”
