NEWS | Horne targets good game management

Richard Horne says game management will be a big factor in the Dons’ game against Barrow Raiders this weekend.

Horne’s side take on the Cumbrian outfit in their opening league game of 2020, and the head coach believes starting the game well could prove to be key.

He said: “I’ve watched their game against Featherstone and they are very big and physical in what they do so game management will be important for us.

“It’s probably an area we fell short in last week so we need to know when to keep the ball in play and when to kick it into touch to get men back behind the ball.

“We’ve spoken about our start and how important it is to not leave ourselves chasing the game, we have to be better in that department.”

After their relegation from the Betfred Championship last season, Horne is expecting Barrow to provide a stern test at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “They’ve retained the majority of their squad and turned over a fair few Championship teams last season so we know what they’re capable of.

“Near the try-line they are a handful so we have to try and keep them away from our line and make sure they aren’t down our end too often.”

Tickets for the game against Barrow at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday March 1 are available now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
