NEWS | Barrow Raiders match preview

The Dons get their Betfred League One campaign underway when they take on Barrow Raiders at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Richard Horne’s side bowed out of the Challenge Cup in their last game, losing 22-12 at Workington Town.

The Raiders were also knocked out of the competition last weekend, as they were beaten 18-16 by Betfred Championship side Featherstone Rovers.

Who’s the gaffer?

A former Barrow player, Paul Crarey played for the club for eight seasons from 1987-1995, before returning as head coach for two years from 2005. He returned in 2014 and lead the club to promotion to the Championship, beating the Dons in the play-off semi-final.

Ones to watch

Perry Singleton

The centre joined Barrow from fellow Cumbrian side Workington at the start of 2019 after an impressive few seasons at Derwent Park. He has impressive try-scoring record in his career so far, crossing the whitewash 24 times in 61 appearances, making him a real threat on the edge in Betfred League One.

Jamie Dallimore

After starting his career with Oldham, Dallimore moved to North Wales Crusaders in 2013 and spent two full seasons with the club before signing for the Raiders. He played a key role from half-back in guiding the team to promotion in 2017, and prior to the 2020 campaign he had scored 469 points in 101 appearances for the club

Carl Forster

The former Super League prop-forward joined Barrow after their relegation to the third tier at the end of last season. Forster played for Salford Red Devils earlier on in his career, before taking on a player-coach role at Whitehaven. He briefly joined Rochdale last season before switching back to Haven in a playing capacity in the second half of the campaign.

Billy Pearson will be the man in the middle when the Dons take on Barrow on Sunday.

Last time out

Barrow ran out 14-10 winners when the two sides last met in the summer of 2017.
