NEWS | Beharrell happy to be back

Matty Beharrell is looking forward to being back on the field in a Dons shirt this weekend.

The half-back is set to make his first appearance of 2020 in the Coral Challenge Cup fourth round tie against Workington Town on Sunday.

He said: “It’s been a long time coming for me so it was disappointing to have last weekend’s game called off, but I’ve spent that time getting even more up to speed.

“I’ve had a bit more of an opportunity to work on the combinations with Rangi so it probably was a bit of a blessing in disguise.

“I put a bit of pressure on myself anyway so it’s about hitting the ground running but also not expecting too much early on.”

The 25-year-old believes the game at Derwent Park will see two teams looking to stamp their authority with a week to go before the league campaign gets underway.

He added: “We’ve got a tough trip this weekend and the weather won’t be great, we know what to expect and we’re preparing well for it.

“They will want to put a marker down heading into the league campaign, it’s nothing that we haven’t faced before and it’s always difficult up there.”

Tickets for the Dons' first home league game against Barrow Raiders on Sunday March 1 are available now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
