NEWS | Horne looking forward to cup tie

Richard Horne is expecting a tough test from Workington Town in the Coral Challenge Cup this weekend.

The Dons have only played one competitive game so far in 2020, and Horne is looking forward to the fourth round tie.

He said: “We haven’t had many games so far which is frustrating, we want to be out there and the boys have done all the hard work in the pre-season.

“They had a similar result to us in the cup against an amateur team, their performance may have been down to conditions but we’re expecting more from them.

“It’s probably a free hit for both teams to see where we’re at heading into the league campaign, conditions will be difficult but that’s something we have to handle.”

With half-back Matty Beharrell back involved after recovering from injury, Horne says he will benefit from a run out in the team.

He added: “Matty has come back late in pre-season so the extra week gives him a chance to improve his fitness further after a while out.

“This is a game where he can get his timing back and get used to his body being hit, and we can assess how he’s linking with his edge and the other halves.”

Tickets for the Dons' first home league game against Barrow Raiders on Sunday March 1 are available now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
