NEWS | Horne looking forward to Thornhill test

Graeme Horne says the Dons will look to show improvements in their performance against Thornhill Trojans this weekend.

The Dons travel to the Tetley’s Stadium to take on the NCL Division 1 side in the Coral Challenge Cup third round, and Horne believes they will provide a tough test.

He said: “It will be a tough start for us, hopefully we can pull through and get on the right end of the scoreboard.

“It’s all about performances for us and each week we want to gradually get better so we’ll see how it goes.

“We went out to win the friendlies and anyone that plays the sport wants to win, but having that competitive game this weekend will be good for us.”

After a few weeks of training with the club since signing in December, Horne says he is doing what he can to help the team and in particular his brother and Dons head coach Richard.

He added: “It’s been great working with Rich, he’s still learning his way as a coach and if I can help him out in anyway then I will.

“We share lifts into training and that helps because we can spend that time talking about rugby and other things.

“A lot of the lads in the squad have won things and played in big games, and it’s my job to try and put my stamp on things where necessary.”
