Jason Tali says he can’t wait to go up against his old side Newcastle Thunder in the Betfred League One play-offs this weekend.

Tali spent – seasons in the North East before his move to the Dons, and is hoping to have a big say in the game.

He said: “It’s a big one for the team and for me personally against my old club, I’m really looking forward to going there and putting on a good performance.

“It’s nice to see Newcastle and the Dons doing well in the same season, when I was there they were battling towards the bottom of the table.

“This game will be a tough one, we beat them there on the opening day of the season but we know they have improved a lot since then.”

With so much riding on the game for both sides, Tali believes it is set up to be a classic encounter at Kingston Park.

He added: “They have been towards the top end of the table all year and made some good signings, so it will be a big challenge for us.

“We had a long trip last weekend and got the job done, and this week has been about making sure we’re ready for Newcastle.

“We’re building in confidence week by week and the spirit in the group is high so that is something we want to maintain.”
