NEWS | Peltier pleased with Dons debut

Ross Peltier says the Dons showed the levels they are capable of against Sheffield Eagles in the South Yorkshire Cup.

The prop forward made his first appearance for the club against the Betfred Championship side, and says it was a positive start to 2020.

He said: “It was good to experience playing at the Keepmoat wearing a Dons shirt for the first time, I felt it was a performance the fans can be excited about.

“Sheffield are a good Championship team and we showed up well for the majority of the game so we can be pleased with that.

“For a middle like myself I enjoy playing on an open field, it suits the type of player I am and part of the reason why I came here.”

As one of eight new recruits to take to the field against the Eagles, Peltier says it was good to be involved with his new side.

He added: “Once you’ve been around for a while systems are similar so it’s just a case to getting to know the boys.

“The boys took to it fairly well and with another game coming up quickly it gives us a chance to tidy things up.

“I feel like we have a squad that could compete in the Championship and that showed, I feel confident going into the new campaign.”

Tickets for the Dons' pre-season friendly against Wakefield Trinity reserves on Friday January 24 are available now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
