3rd October 2019

Dons winger Sam Doherty has committed his future to the club by agreeing a new two-year contract at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doherty was in fine form throughout the 2019 campaign as he finished the year with 20 tries, his best tally since joining the club ahead of the 2015 season.

He said: “It was a really easy decision for me to stay here, I’ve loved it so far and feel like I can keep on improving at the club.

“We’ve got a really good group of lads and it’s something I want to remain a part of so it’s good to get the deal done.

“I managed to score a lot of tries in 2019 and that is something I’ll be looking to improve on even more going into next season.”

Head coach Richard Horne said: “It's great to have Sam extending his stay at the club because he has been one of our most consistent players in 2019.

"He picked up a couple of awards which shows how well he did. He works very hard out of yardage and knows his way to the try-line so I'm really happy he has decided to stay at the club."
