PREVIEW | Horne expecting tough Whitehaven test

12th July 2019

Richard Horne believes the game against Whitehaven is a key one for both sides in Betfred League One.

Haven sit top of the table with the Dons five points behind in fourth, ahead of the clash at the LD Nutrition Stadium.

He said: “It’s a game where we need to get the result to make sure we finish higher up in the league and look to secure a home play-off tie.

“They have Newcastle chasing them so this is a big game for them as well to keep themselves comfortable at the top.

“For us it is important to focus on how we play, and if we do that then we know we can cause teams problems.”

With Rangi Chase expected to make his first appearance in a Dons shirt, Horne says he is looking forward to seeing him in action.

He added: “Rangi is a quality player, he has been out of the game for two years and he is really looking forward to proving a point.

“He has come in and will add to us, but we won’t change too much in terms of the way I set the team up to play.

“What he will add is the experience of playing in big games, and knowing how to approach things when there are only a couple of points in it.”
