The Dons won their fourth successive game in all competitions with a 22-20 victory over Hunslet at South Leeds Stadium.

Richard Horne named an unchanged 17 from the side that beat Oldham 31-0 last time out.

The Dons made the better start and had the game’s first try after six minutes, as Jordan Howden was first to react to his own kick through as he touched the ball down.

Hunslet responded five minutes later as winger Gareth Potts bounced off a tackled and went on the inside to score.

Gary Thornton’s side scored again when Duane Straugheir collected Cain Southernwood’s kick to put his side in front for the first time.

They extended the lead on the next set as Potts went over for his second, collecting the ball in plenty of space out on the right before sliding in at the corner.

The Dons reduced the deficit on the half-hour mark, with Watson Boas scoring another try from distance, collecting the ball from Menzie Yere and racing 60 metres to the line. Matty Beharrell’s conversion made it a two point game at 14-12 at half-time.

As captain Ryan Boyle lead the charge to get the Dons on top in the opening period of the second-half, it was Beharrell who did brilliantly to work space for himself and get away from the full-back to score.

Hunslet hit back almost immediately though, as a loose ball was pounced upon by centre Nathan Chappel who just about got the ball down to put the home side in front.

The match-winning try came 10 minutes from time, as centre Cam Scott picked up the ball inside his own half and had the pace to go clear and score under the posts. Beharrell converted to seal the win for Richard Horne’s side.
