REACTION | Beharrell: momentum key

25th September 2018

Matty Beharrell reckons the win against Workington helped to continue the momentum built-up by the Dons in recent weeks.

Beharrell scored a try and kicked six goals in the victory at the Keepmoat Stadium, and says they wanted to put a marker down.

He said: “The confidence in the group is high, we wanted to put down a marker against them and managed to do that.

“After a good first-half performance we probably took our foot of the gas a little bit in the second-half, and Rich told us afterwards that we can’t afford to do that in the play-off game.

“I think it can be tough facing a team two weeks in a row, but the momentum we’ve built up means that we’re capable of beating anyone.”

The half-back has become a key member of Richard Horne’s promotion chasing side, and Beharrell says he is enjoying his rugby.

He added: “I’m really enjoying my rugby at the minute and that’s one of the main reasons why I wanted to come here in the first place.

“The facilities are first class and I was very optimistic that we had a squad capable of mounting a real push for promotion.

“Everyone knows how well we play at home, we like to pass the ball around and play a good brand of rugby so it stands us in good stead.”
