PREVIEW | Sanderson keen to push on

Jack Sanderson is learning a lot from his first season of senior rugby league as he looks to make a name for himself with the Dons.

The 20-year-old has been a regular in the starting XIII this season, after joining on a season-long-loan from Super League side Hull FC.

He said: “I think at the start it was a big change for me in terms of the physicality, I’ve worked on certain things to adapt the way I play.

“I’d only ever played against people my age or slightly younger than me so it was a big step up, but something that I’ve really enjoyed.

“With players being a lot bigger and stronger, I’ve got to find a way to handle that and I think I’ve started to do that now.”

Sanderson has scored nine tries so far this season, including a four-try haul from the full-back position against Hemel Stags earlier this month.

He added: “Growing up I’ve always been able to play anywhere along the back-line, I’m comfortable wherever I’m picked and it’s good to have that versatility.

“Rich knows I can fill in anywhere and has the confidence that he can move me about if he needs to throughout a game.

“I’ve enjoyed being at full-back in the past few games, it’s meant doing a bit more running than I do on the wing but it’s been good for me.”
