Richard Horne believes the signing of Matty Beharrell will add some key experience as the Dons look to overcome York this weekend.

The scrum-half signed for the club on Thursday and goes straight into the squad to face the Knights this weekend.

He said: “Matty’s a good player who we jumped at the chance to sign when the opportunity came available, he will guide us around the park which is what we need.

“He organises the team and that is something that I felt we could do with, it’s probably an area of the field where we’ve needed an improvement in.

“He’s got a lot to fit in to just a couple of sessions, but the type of player he is I’m sure he will adapt to it fairly quickly and get used to the squad.”

York are currently in second place in Betfred League One having lost just two games this season, but Horne is confident his side can come away with a result.

He added: “They’re in form and playing well at the moment, they manage to hang in games at times which is something we need to be better at.

“It will be a tough task, but we’re up for it and if we want to be up there at the end of the season then these are the games we have to win.

“For us it’s about building momentum, whichever team executes the best is going to get the job done so that’s what we’ll be focusing on going into the game."
