PREVIEW | Beharrell ready to go

6th July 2018

Matty Beharrell says he is raring to go after joining the Dons until the end of the 2019 season.

The 25-year-old could go straight into the squad to face York this weekend, and believes he can have an immediate impact.

He said: “York are a very good side and I came up against them a couple of weeks ago with Keighley, they’re up there on merit so if I’m picked it’s one I’ll look forward to.

“The play-offs are a realistic aim for us and it’s where we should be, we need to try and win as many games as possible going into the back end of the season.

“We have some real knowledgeable coaches at the club who are good at what they do, so I’m looking forward to learning from them.”

Beharrell says the chance to work under head coach Richard Horne was one of the main factors in his decision to sign for the club.

He added: “There were a few options for me, I’m from Hull and it’s a good drive down for me and the chance to play at the Keepmoat was a big pull.

“With Richard Horne in charge, he is someone I’ve watched for many years and admired the way he played for Hull FC and Great Britain.

“He’s got so much knowledge about on rugby league so if I can tap into that to improve my game then that will help me massively.”
