Prop Feka Paleaaesina has his sights set on Gloucestershire All Golds, after the Dons comprehensively beat fellow Kingstone Press League One side South Wales Ironmen 72-10 at The Wern.

The 34-year-old New Zealand international also managed to get himself on the scoresheet and is targeting a performance of a similar nature against the All Golds.

“It is going to be the same against on Sunday when we face the All Golds, we want to go out there and put a few points on them early on and make sure that we kick on,” he said.

“A lot of credit must go to the boys, we stuck in there and got the result that we wanted, you saw on Wednesday that we took the lead early on but couldn’t put them away in the second half.

“It was very important to take the first half of the Oxford into the South Wales game and make sure that we did not take the foot off the gas and rack some point up and that’s exactly what we did.”

Paleaaesina also paid compliment to the Ironmen, who have had a below par season due to financial trouble, and he hopes that they can turn their misfortune around in the upcoming months.

“It has been tough for them this season with a lot of things happening off the pitch, rugby league is still growing there, but I hope they can get everything off the field sorted and it turns round for them,” he said.

“I think that South Wales have some good kids in their ranks who can play some footy, obviously there were some players from dual-registration clubs as I recognised the names, but they had some decent players.

“The game was tough in places and they gave it a good go at the start of the second half but we were looking to get the points on the board and we proved to be too much for them in the end.
