The Dons battled back from 24-12 down to earn a point against Barrow and make it five games unbeaten in Kingstone Press League One.

The Raiders took the lead inside the opening few minutes when Luke Cresswell latched onto an offload down the left and finished the move off in the corner.

They were in again soon after and it was down their left again. Nathan Mossop made a run from dummy half and played Jamie Dallimore through a gap in the line to extend the Raiders lead. Lewis Charnock added the two for 0-10.

The Dons were back in the game just before the 15 minute mark, Russ Spiers produced a great offload and fellow prop forward Zac Braham was on hand to reduce the deficit. Jack Miller added the two leaving the score at 6-10.

Barrow centre Declan Hulme then pierced the Dons defence and put the Raiders in control with their third first half try, creating space for himself before crossing the try-line.

The visitors extended their lead close to half-time when they chose to go for goal from a penalty 20 metres out. Charnock slotted the ball between the sticks to put the Raiders further ahead at the break.

HALF TIME | Doncaster RLFC 6-16 Barrow Raiders.

Barrow were awarded another penalty inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half and again opted to go for goal, this time Dallimore was the man to add the two points and put his side 6-18 to the good.

It was the Dons however who scored the first try after the break. A scrum 20 metres out was eventually worked out to Jason Tali and the centre had enough power to stretch over the line. Miller added the two to make it 12-18.

After getting back into the game, the Dons were soon left chasing once again as Joe Bullock broke the defensive line and played in Eze Harper for Barrow’s fourth try of the afternoon. Dallimore added the two to put the visitors 24-12 up with less than 20 minutes remaining.

The game was far from over though and the Dons got a try back when Tali made a break before offloading to Jordie Hedges and the Australian had enough speed to go over under the sticks. Miller’s conversion made it a six point contest at 18-24.

They showed fighting spirit to gain a point from the game late on. Tali grabbed his second try, again showing great physical presence down the left to put the ball down in the corner.

Miller missed the conversion for that try but was however given the chance to level with the final action of the afternoon. The Dons were awarded a penalty 40 metres out and the scrum-half converted meaning the points were shared.
