Dons sign Reynolds on loan

4th April 2015

Doncaster RLFC are pleased to announce the loan signing of Ben Reynolds from Kingstone Press Championship leaders Leigh Centurions.

The 21-year-old goal-kicking halfback or fullback joins the Dons initially for a month and could make his debut in Easter Monday’s clash with Whitehaven.

Reynolds, who joined Leigh last October from Super League side Castleford Tigers, was the joint Championship One Young Player of the Year whilst on a dual registration contract with York City Knights in 2014.

Ben, who has yet to play a competitive first-team game for the Centurions impressed in the pre season warm-up games, but his opportunities have so far been limited due to the club's fine form.

Commenting on the signing, head coach Paul Cooke said: “Ben is a player I have kept my eye on, he was the young player of the year last season in Championship One with York City Knights, which led to Leigh signing him.

“Ben needs to play, he is a very good player with a lot of talent and he will defiantly add something to the group during his initial month with us.

“I’d like to thank Leigh for allowing Ben to join us on loan.”

Leigh Centurions head of rugby Derek Beaumont added: “Ben is a great lad who has quickly become a favourite within the camp.

“We need Ben to be playing at a high level to maintain his progress and intensity and Doncaster is a good place for that to happen. Paul Cooke will no doubt be able to add to Ben’s experience and they have an excellent playing surface and are a very good club with a good leader in Carl Hall.

“Ben will still maintain his full-time regime with our club where we are confident he has a long future.  Paul Rowley and his team will monitor his progress and he will be able to push for a place in our team whilst working hard at Doncaster.”
