Doncaster Rugby League Club is delighted to announce that Liam Welham has signed forms for the 2014 Championship season.

24 year-old Welham, who only started playing the game nine years ago, has represented both Yorkshire and England at junior level where he played with the likes of Sam Tomkins, Danny Houghton and NRL bound Lee Mossop.

His previous clubs include Hull FC, Hull KR, Featherstone, Dewsbury and Hunslet. He made his Hull KR first team debut alongside brother, Kris, who is currently Rovers' vice-captain at the age of seventeen in the 36-10 defeat at Leigh in August 2006.

The Hull born centre is Paul Cooke's first signing as the Dons new player-coach after they first met whilst playing for Hull KR back in 2007. He joins the club from Hunslet, who recently suffered relegation from the Championship, where he scored 15 tries in 33 appearances in his two years at the Leeds based club.

His statistics for the 2013 season with the Hawks are 25 appearances and nine tries which included two tries against the Dons both at home and away.

Welham said: "Cookie sold the club really well to me when we spoke about the possibility of joining Doncaster.

"I felt coming here was a good opportunity for me and the club's prospects look promising after having a great season back in the Championship.

"They've got a good structure in place and are heading in the right direction and I know a lot of their Hull based players who speak highly of the club.

"The Keepmoat Stadium is a fantastic place to play at and is one of the best stadiums in rugby league and the facilities that the club have got access to are really good."

Cooke said: "Liam's a good lad with a great attitude and he's exactly the type of player I want at the club.

"I've played in the same team as him in the past and I've also played against him this season and he's a very good signing for us.

"I believe he has the right kind of qualities that will make him a firm favourite with our fans at the Keepmoat."
