NEWS | Howe takes his chance

Ben Howe was pleased to take his chance in the Dons starting line-up against London Skolars last time out.

The 20-year-old played the full 80 minutes in the 16-16 draw, and says he has been waiting patiently for his opportunity to come.

He said: “It’s been a strange one with last season being cancelled and the current campaign being a bit stop-start, but I’ve just had to keep my head down.

“I’m lucky that I’m working with Richard Horne and Chris Plume who can help me to be better, and we have a lot of experience in our team as well.

“I can learn a lot from the halves and full-back in particular, Rich told me at the start of the season that my chance would come so I’ve been waiting for that.”

Howe’s second-half try was his first in competitive action for the Dons, and he says it was a proud moment for him and his family.

He added: “On a personal note the try was a really good moment, I’ve not had a lot of game time in the past 18 months so it was massive for me to get 80 minutes under my belt.

“I was blowing a bit towards the end, it’s been a while since I played that long. It was good to get over for a try but it would have been nicer to get the win.”
