Doherty praises team-mates

Sam Doherty was pleased with his return to Dons action this weekend as he played his part in a 68-0 victory over North Wales Crusaders.

The winger scored two tries in a dominant performance but said the credit belongs to his team-mates.

“I just jump over the line pretty much - the boys got me in those positions and all I do is put the ball down,” Doherty said.

“It’s great to be back in the team.  I was looking forward to it, it’s a nice day, it’s against a tough opposition and the boys played the game perfectly.”

Sunday’s win made it five on the bounce for the Dons, and Doherty believes that defensive solidity has been key.

“The most important thing was nilling them,” he added.

“It shows that the defence is there. The attack will come when your defence is strong. The middles set the platform and we just finished them off.”
