We need consistency to succeed in 2026: Briscoe

Consistency will be key for the Dons if they are to achieve the goal of a top four finish in 2026.

That is the verdict of winger Luke Briscoe, fresh from committing his future to the club for another two years.

Briscoe pointed to a lack of consistency in performances as a reason why the Dons missed out on a place in the end-of-season play-offs last time out.

And finding a solid level of performance throughout the campaign is the main factor which will drive the club on in the new Championship season according to the 31-year-old.

Briscoe said: “We had a good group of lads last year and some have left or retired. We’ll have new personnel coming in to hopefully fill those spots and lift us even more.

“It’s consistency that probably did us - being up there one week and down the next.

“We need to get good consistency across a run of games and be on the winning side of it.

“The club has been heading towards that since promotion. In that first year they brought in players like myself and then more the year after. Knowing Carl [Hall, CEO] he’ll have done the same again for next season.

“Hopefully it’s a case of building again and we’ll be up there at the top of the league.”

Briscoe is feeling positive heading into pre-season on the back of a campaign in which he scored six tries in 19 appearances.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “I feel like I had a decent season last year, only missing four or five games.

“I had a good run at the league last year and I want to back it up this year, better myself and go again.”
