Doncaster made it three clean sheets in four games as they came away with a 36-0 victory against Oldham in the qualifying final of the Betfred League One Play-offs.
Having finished the regular season in third sport and with a 36-26 win over Dewsbury in their journal, the Dons looked to carry their winning mentality into the playoffs and secure promotion to the Championship.
The Dons hit Oldham within the first five minutes with Tongan Mahe Fonua continuing his fine try-scoring form on the back of a repeat set of six with the ball being worked well to the short side with Fonua stretching over the line.
Connor Robinson added two points on thanks to a penalty goal just after quarter of an hour. Albert Vete got himself on the scoresheet after crashing over the line from short range to make it 10-0 after 20 minutes of action.
Momentum continued to play into the Dons hands with Connor Robinson finding the try line himself as Richard Horne’s side carved through the visitors defence with the half-back planting the ball down with ease.
Robinson added the extra two to make it 18-0 after half an hour.
Oldham having not been allowed to get any sort of rhythm in the game didn't help themselves as Patrick Ah Van saw yellow after a trip on Tom Halliday who seemed to be causing all sorts of problems for the visitors.
As halftime approached the Dons were over once again following a drop goal attempt that was charged down the hosts got another set of six with Alex Holdstock making a run onto the ball touching down under the sticks cementing the Dons first half dominance.
The hooter sounded with Robinson adding another two to give Horne’s side a 24-0 lead after the first half.
Doncaster were again the first to strike in the second half adding two points through another Robinson penalty from in front of the sticks as things went from bad to worse for Oldham, their frustrating performance showed in the way of another trip, this time Guzdek trying to follow his own kick taken down by McNally who receives a yellow.
It took until after the hour for the first try of the second period and again it went the way of the hosts, the Dons finding quick hands with Tom Halliday getting the ball and making a solo run on the near touchline from the thirty metre line.
As the second period came to a close the full-time hooter sounded with Tom Halliday running over from distance after being picked out by Johnston inside the Dons half, to cap a brilliant performance and hand the Dons a 36-0 lead and set up a date with Hunslet next weekend.
